HONOLULU — Rep. Colleen Hanabusa is telling supporters that her campaign for a seat in the U.S. Senate will be outspent by her primary opponent, Sen. Brian Schatz.

HONOLULU — Rep. Colleen Hanabusa is telling supporters that her campaign for a seat in the U.S. Senate will be outspent by her primary opponent, Sen. Brian Schatz.

Hanabusa sent an email to supporters Thursday with the subject line: “We will be outspent.”

Hanabusa says she has raised more money from grassroots donors than special interest groups.

Hanabusa’s campaign had raised about $2 million and spent $1 million through the end of March.

U.S. Sen. Brian Schatz, who was appointed to the seat after longtime Sen. Daniel Inouye died, raised about $4 million and spent about $1.5 million in the same timeframe.
